Service in Schools is excited to offer three professional learning and student programs for K-–10 classes. The Kids Action Team (for grade K-3), Students Taking Action Today (for grades 4-8), and Students Advocating for the Environment (for grades 6-10), are all designed to support teachers in leading students through a service-learning project to address a community need, in either a classroom or club setting. Down to Earth: Space Science for Community Change

Calling all budding environmentalists and space enthusiasts! Join Science Friday and the International Space Station National Laboratory on a FREE cosmic mission to combat climate change in your own neighborhood. With Down To Earth you will get hands-on weekly design challenges that use easy-to-find, inexpensive supplies, and you will explore exciting STEM careers with real astronauts and space experts during live online events every Friday afternoon where you can ask questions and share ideas. High School

Lucille Lortel Theatre's NYC Public High School Playwriting Fellowship

The Lucille Lortel Theatre's NYC Public High School Playwriting Fellowship is an exciting 11-week playwriting mentorship program focused on sparking and showcasing young creative voices. Up to seven fellows will be chosen, one from each of the five boroughs and one each from D75 and D79 schools. The fellowship culminates with an evening of staged readings of these original student-written one-act plays with professional actors. Computer Science for All Pathfinders Internship

Computer Science for All’s Pathfinders Paid Internship program is a 60-hour internship program for students who are interested in gaining computer science work experience—in-person or remote—and attending career development workshops. Inside the Rehearsal Room: Creative Careers

Spend your mid-winter recess at New York City Center exploring the many careers available in the arts. Focusing on the rehearsal process, students will embody the roles of Director, Music Director, and Choreographer to learn about their important collaboration that brings a production to life. Snowy Winters? Unwrapping Climate Change

New York Hall of Science for an evening discussion on climate change and its intersections with education, fashion, sustainability, and more. Attendees will hear from diverse experts in the field, gather resources, and participate in mini activities with invited organizations and NYSCI Explainers. Attendees can create digital habitats in the interactive Connected Worlds exhibit and end the night gliding away on the synthetic glice rink. Tech Scholars: Web Design Program at The New York Historical

Explore how women across the spectrum of race, class, and sexuality exercised power and effected change. L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program

Mentoring Program empowers young women to identify their innate strengths and fulfill their personal and professional goals through mentorship and health education focused on mental, reproductive, and physical health, as well as college and career readiness. The L.O.V.E. school-based program is delivered in partner schools as a class for female-identifying students, featuring specific instruction that covers social and emotional content and meets health education standards. From September to June, mentors and mentees participate in weekly, hour-long sessions guided by a curriculum consisting of four core components: mental health, reproductive health, college access, and career readiness.
