POSITION:
Teacher - Office of Safety and Youth Development (4 positions available)

LOCATION:
Various schools within District 29
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
New York City licensed and appointed teacher with satisfactory service for the previous 3 years
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Experience working with youth in positive alternative settings
Demonstrated knowledge and successful practice of differentiated instruction, small group instruction, interdisciplinary instruction and using data to inform instruction
Demonstrated understanding of standards-based teaching, learning and assessment
Knowledge and experience of the Common Core Learning Standards and New York City Scope and Sequence Knowledge and experience with ATS, ARIS and ACUITY
Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize, coordinate and administer small and large group activities to support academic success.
Assist with recreational and other positive alternative activities.
Maintain accurate records and provide reports in a timely fashion.
Provide academic support for students at risk of academic failure.
Support students with completion of homework and school projects and work cooperatively with staff and parents.
Responsible for all enrollment, attendance and record keeping related to students.
WORK SCHEDULE:
• November 2024 – May 2025
• Middle School Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm or 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
• No school holidays (Up to 190 hours)
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
