POSITION:

TEACHER- CONNECTED ARTS NETWORKS FACILITATORS  (approximately 85 positions)

Office of Arts and Special Projects/Curriculum and Instruction/Division of Teaching and Learning

Activity Supervisor: Maria Palma

 

LOCATION:

Schools and sites throughout the five boroughs; Supervision of summer grant activities

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

New York City Department of Education licensed teacher of dance, music, theater, and visual arts currently working in NYCPS

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • New York City Department of Education licensed teacher of dance, music, theater, visual arts, or common branches, grades K-12, currently assigned to teach dance, music, theater, or visual arts.
  • Two years satisfactory experience working with elementary, middle and/or high school arts programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating Blueprint- focused planning and assessment workshops in dance, music, theater, and/or visual arts.
  • Experienced in designing inquiry and action research in the arts around formative assessment
  • Knowledgeable in formative assessment research and practices in the arts classroom
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing culturally responsive, sustaining arts education
  • Must submit a completed sample Unit Plan
  • AT LEAST THREE (3) YEARS OF SATISFACTORY (HIGHLY EFFECTIVE/EFFECTIVE) EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE NYCDOE
  • Applicants for per session employment who are not employed in the Department of Education’s regular school program or adult
  • education program shall be considered for selection only if no qualified day school teacher or adult education employee is available

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in Connected Arts Network facilitator planning meetings by borough team
  • Participate in Connected Arts Network Summer Institute and workshops and meetings throughout the year
  • Assist with planning for teacher training around planning instruction based on Blueprint for Teaching and Learning PreK-12 dance, music, theater, and visual arts curricula through lens of SEL, equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Facilitate workshops for teachers in action research and integration of SEL, equity, diversity and inclusion in standards-based student learning in the arts
  • Participate in review of teacher portfolios/unit plans
  • Participate in online extension of Connected Arts Learning PLCs as required; develop online resources
  • Develop lessons and unit plans in the arts that embed strategies of equity, diversity, inclusion and SEL to promote standards-based arts learning.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

September 2024 –June 30, 2025

Specific dates to be announced, will including a summer institute and other weekdays.  Other dates/hours may be required as determined by program supervisor (Up to 40 hours per position).

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
