SY24-25 PER SESSION VACANCY NOTICE # 1185: Multiple UFT Titles (Teacher/Paraprofessional) - Students in Temporary Housing STH Field Trip Para Chaperone (Office of Community Schools)

(CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING AVAILABILITY AND PROGRAMMATIC APPROVAL; this position is subject to budget approval and availability and may be withdrawn at any time)

 

POSITION:

Students in Temporary Housing (STH) Field Trip Chaperone (Up to 20)

Multiple UFT Titles

Teachers and Paraprofessionals

 

LOCATION:

NYC Homeless Shelters, HERRCs, Schools, various event, and field trip locations during school year 2024-2025.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly licensed and appointed New York City Department of Education:

Teacher grades K-12 any content

-or-

Licensed Paraprofessional

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

• At least three (3) years of satisfactory (Highly Effective/Effective) experience within the NYCDOE.
• Experience in early childcare, preschool, elementary, middle school, and special education is preferred.
• Bilingual is preferred but not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Central Team Staff, STH Director or Regional Director, the Teacher/Paraprofessional or Provider will:

• Accompany minor shelter residents and school students to and from NYCPS sponsored field trips.
• Monitor students as they engage in activities.
• Provide meaningful activities for children in grades 3K through 12.
• Create a safe and caring environment.
• Be able to provide First Aid and CPR, if necessary.
• Provide care to children with special needs as required.
• Incorporate literacy and art-based activities.
• Monitor distribution of snacks and meals.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Up to 8 hours per day of an event or field trip.

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
